The Strode Families in England and America - George Strode Family of Chester County, Pa. Page 66 Son of Richard Strode  Page 71 - Number 75 Richard Strode was born May 5, 1777 in East Bradford township. He followed the occupation of his forefathers, that of farming. He married Frances Osborn and among the children was a son, Marshall Strode, who was born in East Bradford township May 10, 1820, on the old homestead. ("Genealogical and Personal Memoirs of Chester and Delaware Counties, Pa.," by Gilbert Cope.) Richard Strode was apparently living with his father at the 1790 and 1800 censuses. In the 1830 census he is shown with one man 20 to 30, two boys of 10 to 15, his wife 50 to 60, one woman 20 to 30, and two girls 15 to 20. He died Aug. 23, 1852, West Chester. In his will of June 28, 1852, proved Sept. 1, 1852, Richard Strode, of the Borough of West Chester, left his son Marshall his plantation, partly in East Bradford and partly in Westtown, his son Francis the woodland in West Bradford and mentioned his daughters Elizabeth, Hannah, and Sarah. the administrators were Francis and Marshall. These sons were also administrators of the estate of Francis(?) July 5, 1856. 150 - Francis, B (1807) 151 - Elizabeth 152 - Hannah 153 - Sarah 154 - Marshall, b. May 10, 1820 Appendix for Strode History from M.J. Becker, Anthropology, West Chester State College, 4 Oct 1971: Richard Strode (5/5/1777 - 8/23/1852) m. Frances Osborn (? - 5/10/1851 on 22 Nov. 1801 and they had 8 children. Richard died in Birmingham. Children of Richard Strode (1777 - 1852) William Strode (8/17/1802 - 10/10/1802 Elizabeth Strode (11/24/1803 - 7/15/1879) m. Russell Jones 3/6/1828 and died in Battle Creek, Mich. Francis Strode (4/11/1806 - ?? m. Thomasine Meredith (12/6/1829) Hannah Strode (8/1/1811 - ?? m. Amos Darlington 5/11/1840 Mary Strode (3/21/1814 - 8/27/1824) died in Birmingham age 10 Peter Strode (12/18/1816 - 7/24/1847) died in Birmingham probably un married. Marshall Strode (4/10/1820 - 1/10/1880) m. Elizabeth Darlington 3/4/1847. Elizabeth died 1/23/1880 shortly following Marshall's death in Birmingham and was buried 1/26/1880 at Birmingham from her son's residence (A. Darlington Strode.
