This database was acquired from the Texas Department of State Health Services, and originally entitled Texas Marriages. The descriptive information here is adapted from the Texas Department of State Health Services website. More information about the database may be available there.
These records contain an index of marriages from Texas. Each entry includes the following, when available: the first, middle, and last name of the bride and groom, the gender and age of both spouses, the birth date of each spouse, the date and location of the marriage, and the marriage certificate number.
Marriage indexes offer insight about the unions found in your family tree. At a minimum, marriage records from Texas usually include the following information: the first and last names of each party, and the marriage date and location. More modern and detailed records can include the names of parents, place of residence of the bride and groom, and the officiant. You can then use this information to help you find your ancestors in other Texas resources such as other newspapers, land, and probate records.
